Gratitude 21: What I've learned (part 1 of 3)

Gratitude grows.
When I started my gratitude posts I thought I'd just do a few. But I quickly realized that gratitude grows. Thinking or writing about something you're thankful for is like opening the door to a room you haven't been in for a long time. You think you know what's in there. But once you step in you see a lot more. Which leads me to:
Gratitude sometimes comes in the form of memories.
I really hope I don't lose my memory as I get older. It's easy and fun to find gratitude in old photos, videos, letters, journal entries, or just reflecting back on your life. You might surprise yourself when you see where you've been, good and bad.
Gratitude is contagious.
I don't think I would have done this exercise if I hadn't enjoyed reading posts by Viki Groberg Bailey, Jarie Bonham Mickelson, and others. It's been fun and inspiring. I also enjoy the little things people share throughout the year.
Gratitude helps you get to know people better, including yourself.
I love the first great maxim from the oracle at Delphi: Know thyself. When you reflect on what you're grateful for you see what's important to you. When you read what someone else is grateful for you see what's important to them, and often discover something that is also important to you. Like cousins, or black licorice. 😀 Viki Groberg Bailey
I'm attaching an old photo of me and my cousin Thomas, somewhere near the Groberg cabin. Also attaching a photo of some family friends holding our new baby Amanda inside our cozy, pioneer, first home. (Mark, Jeanette, Alina, Isaac) If you look closely you'll also see photos on the wall of me and Jennifer on a trip in Indonesia! Also one more beautiful, candid photo of Jennifer and Amanda that was taken by the famous photographer Britney Evenson Wood and given to me for Christmas way back in 2002. All things I'm grateful for!
